Our goal is to offer our residents an outstanding service with excellent value, never forgetting that the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of all those in our care is first priority. We have two qualified Lifestyle Co-ordinators and their Assistants to ensure there is a varied schedule of activities, events and trips out. Residents should always be encouraged and assisted to maintain their independence and dignity, choosing, wherever possible their own level of freedom, habits and lifestyle.

We offer extensive activity programs designed specifically with resident and staff feedback and ideas in conjunction with our Lifestyle Coordinators, physiotherapist and other health professionals to cater to the needs of our residents. Some activities promote movement and exercise while others are an opportunity to socialise and stimulate. Not only do these activities provide entertainment, but they also allow residents to remain active and maintain a balanced lifestyle and a range of interests.

Some of these activities include:

  • Bus trips to places of interest
  • Social gatherings including happy hour, high tea, men’s group and theme days
  • Exercise programs including movement to music, Zumba, tai chi, walking groups as well as individual therapy for those who are unable to join
  • Quizzes, reminiscence and discussion groups
  • Cooking classes, creative craft sessions and art therapy
  • Gardening
  • Pet therapy programs
  • Active games including bowls, skittles and golf
  • Entertainment and visiting community groups as well as concerts and sing-alongs
  • In-house lolly trolley as well as regular visiting clothing, shoes and giftware
  • Church services of various denominations, communion, as well as one to one visits as required
  • Adelaide Hills library service as well as a wide in-house library collection of books
  • Resident computers and one to one lessons

Our activity programs are displayed in all areas and on the notice board in the foyer.

We believe in creating a lifestyle that improves the lives of our residents to allow them to live to the fullest in this chapter of their lives. It is our priority to ensure the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of all those in our care.

We also understand the need for people to have good social interaction and we work closely with local clubs and organisations to ensure that access to the local community is an integral part of our care plan.

Resident/Relatives meetings are held 3 monthly to plan events, air grievances and discuss their care and make suggestions for improvements to running the home.

External community activities are encouraged and arranged.

Choice of which activities residents would like to attend is always taken into consideration.

Our aim is to enrich your quality of life.

Management and staff at OVRC greatly appreciate our team of volunteers who give their time freely to enhance the quality of life of the residents.

Onkaparinga Valley Playgroup is an intergenerational playgroup that is run each week at OVRC in partnership with Playgroup SA.

Intergenerational playgroup is a unique and special playgroup where children, parents, carers and residents join together to learn through play. We encourage the children, parents and carers to mix with the residents as much as they would like to. Some residents may be limited as to how much they can interact with the children but find joy in watching the children play and have fun

Playgroup is both enjoyable and beneficial. It is an excellent opportunity for you and your child(ren) to experience group activities and learn to socialise and play in a range of situations. It gives you the chance to meet other parents and carers, make friends and share parenting ideas and information. It also provides families and children with the opportunity to build lasting relationships with the elderly community.

Children aged 0-5 are welcome to attend

Thursdays 10:00 – 11:30 am (during school term)
